© 2024 Northeastern UniversityHi Randall,
One of our goals at Brown Pre-College is to provide students with an experience that prepares them to be an undergraduate at any college or university.
This begins with our application process.
To apply to Brown Pre-College, students are asked to submit transcripts, an essay and optionally, a recommendation. The application review, acceptance and enrollment processes all mirror that of an undergraduate experience. This experience leaves students better prepared to engage in the college application process as they approach their senior year.
The first step for a student to complete the application is to create an account! Once students have created an account, they will be able to view our essay prompts so they can get a head start on drafting their essay.

- Printable Application Checklist: outlines what students will need in order to complete their application. Please feel free to print and share or pass along the link to your students!

This intensive weeklong program brings together talented young writers to engage in workshops, explore diverse genres, and receive mentorship from esteemed faculty. The cost to attend is underwritten by the university, so more affordable than comparable programs, and in addition, we offer generous financial aid to students with demonstrated need. It’s a unique opportunity for students to immerse themselves in writing and creativity alongside peers who share their passion.DOWNLOAD SUMMER WRITERS WORKSHOP FLYER Apprentice Writer provides high school students the chance to publish their work. This magazine showcases the voices of young writers from around the world, offering them an audience and the experience of seeing their work in print and online. In each issue, we award a cash prize to a single work from every genre (poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and photography). It’s an invaluable opportunity for your aspiring authors. Issue 42 of the magazine is available now!DOWNLOAD APPRENTICE WRITER FLYER Creative Writing Day invites high school students, teachers, and counselors to our campus for a day filled with workshops and seminars led by our faculty. We've designed this event to ignite creativity and introduce students to new perspectives in writing. Our next Creative Writing Day will be in November 2025.Please share these opportunities with your students. We’d also be grateful if you’d encourage your talented current seniors to apply to our creative writing major. Their application portfolio will automatically enter them into consideration for a creative writing scholarship.DOWNLOAD WRITERS INSTITUTE POSTER Feel free to reach out for more information or with any questions.
